Giddyup, little doggies! It's time to judge who among shall get the golden spurs for the best cartoon caption for May.

Daniel Guidera outdid himself with his hilarious (almost bizarre) image of a cowboy in the lab. To quote a French friend of mine, "What doz zis mean??"

Well, several score of you submitted captions, and we've culled the herd down to these finalists, Bob985, Don Swaab (a caption hall of famer), JOtt and Rick Hille.

Who was the cleverest?

Here is the link to the ballot and here are the finalists!

  • TI acquires National Semiconductor. (Bob985)
  • First we round up a herd of new college recruits, and then we imprint our corporate brand on them. (Don Swabb)
  • Looks like the CEO is in acquisition mode, again. (JOtt)
  • Try as he might, Vern never could quite understand current steering. (Rick Hille)
  • Now the new hire understood why every one just smiled when she told them she was going to learn the ropes from the old timer. (JOtt)

Well, of all the captions I can see here, none really stand out. :)

Maybe Warren could be encouraged to choose from the April cartoon submissions for
'Plumb your creativity's depth: The April cartoon contest is open!', which apparently remains open.

Here is my poor attempt at a stand out caption:

"Sir I think you misunderstood when HR asked you 'to help them rope in people who are out standing in the field' "
