It wasn’t just humans, but also robot racers taking to the Indy 500 this weekend, with Murata, sponsors of the KV racing team (along with Littlefuse and Mouser)showing off the Murata-Boy robot performing his bicycle balancing act.
The self-balancing, wirelessly-controlled robot was demoed in the KV Racing garage, and even given a little spin by Indy race car driver and 3rd place finisher Tony Kanaan himself using a “magic” Bluetooth rod.
The robot, which includes a variety of sensors, including a couple of gyroscopes, and a 3-D acceleration sensor is powered by a proprietary lithium ion battery designed by Murata, and can run for about an hour on a single charge.
