Hurricane Sandy filmed from space

While hurricane Sandy wreaked devastation down on earth, from space, the view was deceptively more serene, and even beautiful.
NASA released a video of post-tropical cyclone Sandy, shot from the International Space Station, this morning (October 30), as many cities in the Northeast U.S. began picking up the pieces after the destruction.
Superstorm Sandy, which spawned winds of up to 90 mph, appeared as nothing more than a slow moving swirl from space.

Indeed, from 260 miles above earth, Sandy’s destruction –floods, massive power outages, snowstorms, uprooted trees, loss of life and severe property damage—were all but obfuscated beneath the swirling clouds.

Yea, if you see a storm that big from space, you should leave the coasts. The energy of this storm was off the charts.

To me, everything was clear. If you know geography, you would recognize Florida etc.

To David's point, you can recognize the geometry if you just go back to the very beginning of the video, where there is more land mass. Of course, it's a little disorienting to view it 'upside down.'
