Altera joins WiMAX Forum

SAN FRANCISCO Programmable logic supplier Altera Corp. Tuesday (May 24) announced that it has joined the WiMAX Forum, a non-profit organization formed to promote and certify compatibility and interoperability of broadband wireless products based on the IEEE 802.16 standard.
Ron Resnick, president of the WiMAX Forum, said in a statement that Altera's presence would contribute to the forum's expertise. "Altera's membership in the WiMAX Forum brings more than 20 years of semiconductor industry experience and innovation to the organization," Resnick said. "The WiMAX Forum seeks to establish long-term growth of wireless broadband solutions, and I am confident that Altera will contribute to that vision."
Altera (San Jose, Calif.) joins more than 230 companies from around the world that have joined the WiMAX Forum.
