The investment, which came from existing, long-term investors, was co-led by Intel Capital's Digital Home Fund and Vision Capital, with participation from Allegis Capital, Bay Partners, Charles River Ventures and Interwest Partners.
The total invested in the company has now grown to $48 million.
Staccato also demonstrated for the first time at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas its Ripcord range of devices, including a single chip, all-CMOS part based on the Certified Wireless USB standard.
This is based on the WiMedia Alliance’s UWB common radio platform and the Certified Wireless USB specification devised by the USB Implementer’s Forum.
The range includes specific parts targeted for Host Wire Adapters, Device Wire Adapters, native SDIO, a Physical Layer (PHY) only version as well as three reference designs.
" This investment allows us to further strengthen Staccato's existing business as we begin commercialization, while expanding our presence to support the deployment of commercial Certified Wireless USB products worldwide," said Rick Kornfeld, president and CEO of Staccato Communications.
