COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Tundra Semiconductor Corp. has acquired Silicon Logic Engineering Inc. in a $14 million deal that combines $10 million cash with $4 million common shares of Tundra stock.

Ottawa-based Tundra gains both general ASIC design expertise from Silicon Logic (Eau Claire, Wis.) and intellectual property cores for high-speed serial communications.

The latter complements Tundra’s recent acquisition of the Alliance Semiconductor's systems solutions business unit. Alliance developed PCI Express and HyperTransport products to augment Tundra’s own bridging and serial interconnect products. Silicon Logic has focused on multiple interconnect and communications. In its ten-year history, Silicon Logic has migrated from IP cores to outsourced ASIC design services.

Jeff West, SLE's former president, will become the vice president of design services at Tundra, reporting to Tundra President and CEO Jim Roche. Tundra expects to retain all employees at the Wisconsin headquarters.
