SANTA CRUZ, Calif. — It's no joke. The Design Automation Conference (DAC) has issued a call for paper submissions for a "wild and crazy idea" (WACI) track that will run at the 44th DAC in June, 2007.

The DAC organizers are seeking papers that let the electronic design community "share new, forward-looking technical ideas that have yet to be fully developed or proven," according to a Wednesday (Oct. 18) announcement. While traditional DAC papers explore specific issues and outline complete solutions, WACI papers will allow presenters to share novel ideas in their early stages.

Meanwhile, DAC organizers continue to seek papers related to the 2007 conference theme, which is automotive electronics. Relevant system design topics include the integration of advanced consumer electronic devices, including navigation and entertainment systems, as well as safety systems.

The submission deadline for regular papers and WACI submissions is Monday, November 20. Authors whose papers are selected will be notified by email by March 9. 2007. Submissions must be made electronically at the DAC web site.

The 44th DAC runs June 4-8, 2007, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif.
