MANHASSET, NY — The MathWorks and Virginia Tech College of Engineering have signed a new three-year agreement for The MathWorks to provide resources and support for the continued use and development of course components that utilize MathWorks tools.

The MathWorks will also sponsor the Joseph F. Ware, Jr. Advanced Engineering Laboratory (Ware Lab) with software for technical computing and model-based design.

The Ware Lab houses content for approximately 13 engineering-based design competitions, such as EcoCAR: The NeXt Challenge, for undergraduate students.

MathWorks software has also previously been licensed for use on laptops by Virginia Tech students; all undergraduate engineering students receive an engineering software bundle that includes 17 MathWorks products.

Virginia Tech College of Engineering offers its 1,800 graduate students opportunities in advanced fields of study such as biomedical engineering, state-of-the-art microelectronics, and nanotechnology.
