Last year, the general purpose analog market posted just over $13 billion in sales, down 15 percent from 2008, according to Databeans.
The ranking of the top five suppliers remained unchanged from 2008 to 2009, though four of the five largest players did lose market share during the year, Databeans said. Only Texas Instruments Inc., the market leader, gained share during the year, moving to close to 19 percent from 18 percent in 2008, according to Databeans (Reno, Nev.).

Databeans' definition of the general purpose analog market also includes high performance products such as precision data converters and sophisticated power management ICs with integrated battery chargers and multiple PWM outputs, according to the firm.
