Report: Mosaid sues LSI, alleges breach of contract

3/18/2010 7:22 PM EDT

SAN FRANCISCO—Memory technology licensor Mosaid Technologies Inc. earlier this month filed a lawsuit against LSI Corp. and Agere Systems Inc., alleging breach of contract stemming from a 2007 patent acquisition deal, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

Mosaid (Ottawa, Canada) in February 2007 said it won a competitive bid for a portfolio of Wi-Fi and Wi-Max patents from Agere, agreeing to pay $70 million over 10 years. The two companies also stuck a revenue sharing agreement as part of the deal.

According to The Wall Street Journal, a complaint by Mosaid filed March 9 in U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware argues that the company is entitled to unspecific damages. The complaint, which was heavily redacted, alleges that Agere and LSI (which acquired Agere in 2007) breached a section of the purchase agreement, according to the report.

LSI (Milpitas, Calif.) did not immediately respond to a request for comment by EE Times.
