ST VP to head micro-nanotechnology cluster

PARIS — Loïc Liétar, corporate vice president of STMicroelectronics NV (Geneva, Switzerland), has been appointed president of Grenoble-based Minalogic applications cluster for micro-nanotechnology and embedded systems.

Early 2008, ST revamped its management structure, and appointed Loïc Liétar, previously group vice president, Strategies, to the function of corporate vice president, corporate business development. Liétar has been responsible for producing corporate market intelligence and research as well as building and maintaining third-party technology relationships in the role of external technology coordinator.

Liétar will remain Corporate VP at ST in addition to his role at Minalogic, the company specified.

The Grenoble-based cluster combines micro- and nanotechnologies and intelligent embedded software to create unique value-added solutions. Applications cut across virtually all industries from the traditional to the high-tech, including healthcare, the environment, mobile communications, the media, and textile design and manufacturing.

It gathers 163 partners, and for the period from 2005 to 2009, 121 projects were certified and financed, for total funding of 398.7 million euros ($543.8 million), with a total R&D budget of about 1.3 billion euros ($1.77 million).
