The IDT solutions leverage what the company claims is best-in-class technology from its CPS and TSI product lines, with the latter being acquired from Tundra Semiconductor earlier this year.
The IDT Serial RapidIO Gen 2 endpoint IP will be generally available for microprocessor, DSP, FPGA and ASIC vendors in Q4 2009. More information is available at www.IDT.com.
Separately, IDT announced that its Serial RapidIO Gen 2 endpoint IP has been selected by Texas Instruments for use in its wireless optimized DSPs. The combination of the Serial RapidIO Gen 2 products with the next-generation DSPs provide a turnkey solution for 3G and 4G wireless platforms.
The combined IDT/TI solution produces significantly higher speeds and control of the switch fabric traffic in networks with large clusters of DSPs, which is needed to achieve the required performance for 3G and 4G wireless applications. The Serial RapidIO Gen 2 solutions, which are backwards compatible with RapidIO 1.3, let system designers improve overall system level performance in wireless, video/imaging and military applications. This is achieved by the higher lane speeds of the Serial RapidIO Gen 2 spec.
