WAYNE, N.J. — Startup Ezchip has added two low-cost members to its NP-2 family of network processors that reduce pricing from the $800 range to $445 in quantity.

The NP-2/5 is a 5-Gbit network processor while the NP-2/10L is a 10-Gbit processor. Both processors integrate classification engines, ten 1-Gbit and one 10-Gigabit Ethernet MACs, and two SPI-4.2 interfaces. The NP-2/5 also features two integrated traffic managers for ingress and egress priority queuing and bandwidth guarantees.

Like other NP-2 devices, the two new processors use external DRAM for all lookup tables, frame memory, and traffic management control. A choice of DRAM technologies are supported including SDRAM DDR-II, FCRAM-II and RLDRAM-II.

The NP-2/5 and NP-2/10L are scheduled to sample in the fourth quarter of 2004.
