Carrier Access spins gateway, router for enterprise apps

WAYNE, N.J. Carrier Access Corp. released an IP gateway system and multiservice router Monday (Sept. 13) for enterprise applications.
Developed around an Intel IXP network processor, the Adit 3104 gateway provides four switched 10/100Base-T LAN ports, one 10/100-BaseT WAN port, one T1/E1 WAN port and 24 voice ports. The system handles between eight to 24 voice-over-IP (VoIP) calls and comes equipped with stateful firewall and VPN capabilities.
The Adit 3402 multiservice router sports four T1/E1 ports, two router 10/100BaseT ports, and 24 voice ports. The system also comes equipped with stateful firewall capabilities as well as eight to 24 lines of circuit-switched voice.
The 3402 has been in beta and will be generally available starting this week. The 3104 will be generally available in the fourth quarter.
