Chemical company BASF (Ludwigshafen, Germany) and Li-Tec GmbH (Kamenz, Germany), have announced to join the eNOVA e-car strategy alliance. With the move, the group rounds up its expertise spectrum. BASF will contribute materials know-how while Li-Tec produces lithium ion batteries.

The move aims at strengthening eNOVAs position in developing electric vehicles. "Over the months and years to come, many significant challenges need to be mastered", said eNOVA spokesperson Goesta Pfundtner. The group plans to participate in building a German electric vehicle platform.

Currently, eNOVA has no plans to incorporate further members. However, it constantly examines this option if it could strengthen its position. eNOVA has been launched in 2009 in order to activate synergies between the disciplines of automotive design, semiconductors, batteries and innovative materials. Members of the eNOVA group are automotive OEMs Audi, Daimler, and Porsche along with tier ones Bosch, Continental, Hella KGaA and ZF Friedrichshafen. Also chip vendors Elmos and Infineon are on board. Battery manufacturer Li-Tec is itself a subsidiary of car vendor Daimler AG and industry conglomerate Evonik AG.
