Plastic Logic displays have the potential for widespread use as one lightweight sheet of e-paper that would be carried around instead of stacks of newspapers and business documents. A wireless connection could refresh the latest edition of a newspaper, for example.
Business reader devices, the company's first product, are expected to provide a large screen for reading email attachments, which are difficult to see on a mobile phone.
Earlier this month, the company previewed the electronic reader for business users at DEMOfall '08 in San Diego.
Some have speculated that subsequent generations of e-paper will be cheap and foldable and will replace paper as the dominant means of disseminating information.
