LONDON — Cyan Holdings (Cambridge, England) has teamed with Micrel Inc. (San Jose, Calif.) for the development of subsystem level RF modules targeting systems for automated meter reading infrastructure, public lighting management, Ethernet gateways and RF sensor networks.

Micrel is providing the RF chips with Cyan supplying the microcontrollers and system software.

According to Kenn Lamb, CEO at Cyan, the joint venture will offer production ready modules complete with drivers, protocol stacks, RF mesh networking, and even embedded web servers.

Based on the RadioWire technology, the modules will enable a range of low power Ethernet/USB gateways and nodes for a range of industrial applications.

Lamb adds the modules will be customizable and supplied with a free graphical development tool providing an easy to use and cost effective solution to industrial control and communications.

Cyan specializes in the development of applications using its eCOG1X and eCOG16E01 microcontroller chips. Its ready-to-go modules provide RF connectivity and USB and Ethernet enabled gateways, complete with software protocol stacks and modular application software.
