Under the terms of the agreement Mitsubishi will represent Jennic and supply the whole range of hardware and software products from Jennic, alongside Mitsubishi's own products.
Jennic's wireless products target energy and environmental management, active RFID and the consumer electronics markets. Its product range includes wireless microcontrollers, modules, evaluation kits, software stacks, an RF4CE demonstration system and escalating developments with ZigBee PRO, 6LoWPAN and energy control and metering.
"The partnership with Mitsubishi Corp. undoubtedly provides a strong arm into Japan and the joined representation will significantly enhance Jennic's relationship into existing customers and extend coverage to many new customers," said Jim Lindop, CEO of Jennic, in a statement. Tadashi Takasugi, general manager of Mitsubishi Corp., said: "Jennic's focus markets in smart energy, asset tracking, logistics and RF remote controls, play directly into Mitsubishi Corp.'s core business segments. Jennic has a strong reputation, competitive products and good customer traction, and MC in Japan and the rest of the world are perfectly positioned to drive these further, to become the lead supplier for low-power wireless technology."
Mitsubishi is already supporting Jennic's JN5139 wireless system with Japanese consumer-electronics producers’ power consumption monitors.
