Virage Logic partners with IDT to provide its Sonic Focus software on PC codecs

CAMBRIDGE, UK — Virage Logic partnered with Integrated Device Technology to offer its Sonic Focus suite of audio enrichment software on the IDT codecs sold to PC manufacturers worldwide. This is to include the company's 92HD89X Power Smart audio codecs.

IDT, the second largest supplier of audio codecs to the worldwide PC industry, will market and support Virage Logic's Sonic Focus audio software to their PC OEMs.

The Sonic Focus IP products are audio enrichment software that restore clarity, warmth, detail, and realism to digitally compressed audio. When files are compressed, many of the nuances and subtleties of the original studio recording or live performance are lost.

Using technology created by artisans and engineers of the music industry, the Sonic Focus products raise the audio performance. Adaptive Volume is the newest offering in the portfolio of Audio IP solutions.

It joins Virtual Bass which significantly enhances the low frequency response of speakers that have limited ability to reproduce bass without compromising voice integrity or detail; Adaptive Dynamics which helps restore clarity and fidelity of compressed audio in today's music, movies, and games; Extrapolator which expands stereo audio to a lifelike multi-channel sound stage using advanced physical modeling techniques; and X-Matrix which creates a surround-sound environment on stereo speakers or headphones for an immersive movie or concert experience.
