PARIS — The IMEC research center and the K.U.Leuven University in Leuven, Belgium, announced it has conferred the degree of doctor honoris causa on Wim Roelandts, ex-chairman and CEO of programmable logic device vendor Xilinx Inc. (San Jose, Calif.).

Rector Mark Waer said it is awarding the honorary doctorate for Roelandts' implementation of management and leadership styles "that stimulate innovation whilst also prioritizing human values in corporate culture."

In 2008, Xilinx named Moshe Gavrielov, a former executive at Cadence Design Systems Inc., as its new president and chief executive.

Roelandts had joined Xilinx as CEO in 1996 after 28 years at Hewlett-Packard Co.

Only unethical institutes can award such an SOB. His only accomplishment was he was at Xilinx when the stock market was booming. I have better words to describe him but I will refrain from doing so on EE-Times Website.
