Winchester, UK - Advanced embedded solutions provider, RadiSys Corporation has unveiled one of the smallest, full-featured embedded single board computers at Embedded World in Nuremberg, Germany.

The Procelerant PICOZ500 is designed for use in small, low-power handheld and portable devices like those found in medical, gaming, ticketing, and test and measurement applications.

Measuring 100 mm x 72 mm, the PICOZ500 is latest addition to the Procelerant family of embedded computer products and is designed for handheld and portable equipment with a flexible I/O scheme, battery support and LCD touch screen support. The I/O signals are routed to headers rather than connectors to provide a lower profile and application specific enclosure options - allowing customers to easily add and route I/O via cables. Featuring touch screen and LED back light support, MicroSD boot, battery charger and BIOS support, the PICOZ500 enables equipment manufacturers to lower their development costs and shorten their development cycles.

The Procelerant PICOZ500 standard I/O is 100 mm x 72 mm (3.9 inch x 2.8 inch) and uses headers rather than connectors for standard I/O. The board includes sockets for microSD, mini PCI Express and a flexible I/O connector with range of I/O signals. Besides a TDP of less than 5W and low heat dissipation, the PICOZ500 also offers an integrated LVDS display with touch screen and LED back light driver support. The board also offers DC input voltage with a range of 6.0 V to 16.8 V and supports Li-ion/Li-polymer battery charging and discharging functions. RadiSys also offers up to seven years lifetime with full revision control and sustaining support.
