LONDON — Perpetuum Ltd. (Southampton, England), a developer of energy harvesting technology, has launched the free-standing harvester (FSH) that combines electromagnetic vibration energy harvesting technology with a selectable set of energy charging, storage and management options. The unit is optimized for industrial machine condition monitoring.

The unit converts mechanical vibrations into electrical energy to power wireless sensor systems. The sensors can be used to monitor the balance of rotating machinery to detect impeding service requirements.

The FSH is designed to charge an external storage device at up to 4-mA at 5 volts (20-mW) while reporting power levels via a standard 3-pin IEC connector. The FSH output can be monitored via the 3-pin IEC interface to provide power output status to a wireless sensor node.

Compact in size, hermetically sealed and industry-ready, the stainless steel FSH is designed with two mounting options: a robust magnetic mount and a center thru-hole mount. Operation has been verified over the full industrial temperature range.
