LONDON — Graphics intellectual property licensor Imagination Technologies Group plc has announced its PowerVR SGX544 graphics core for embedded and mobile applications with support for Microsoft DirectX 9 and multi-processor capability.

The PowerVR SGX544 can be implemented as a four-pipe single core, or in multiprocessor configurations of between two and 16 cores supports 8 to 64 pipes.

SGX544 provides support for DirectX 9 Feature Level 3 with maximum hardware acceleration, making it suitable for tablets, computing devices and smartphones. It also supports OpenGL 2.1, OpenGL ES 1.1 & 2.0, OpenVG 1.1 and OpenCL 1.1 Embedded Profile.
