Siano denies Chinese mobile TV allegations

LONDON — Siano Mobile Silicon Ltd., a vendor of mobile digital TV receiver chips, has spoken out against allegations it said had been made by Chinese startup Innofidei Inc., that Siano infringes patents relevant to mobile television in China.

Siano (Netanya, Israel) said that Innofidei (Beijing, China) had written to several Siano customers alleging that Siano has infringed patents. Siano did not detail which patents were cited, but denied the allegations and said that Innofidei's action seemed to be the result of frustration at Siano's success in the CMMB (Chinese Multimedia Mobile Broadcast) market.

"If Innofidei does intend to take such claims to a court of law, proof of which our lawyers have received no confirmation of as of yet, we look forward with full confidence to proving they are completely unfounded in court. Siano will assert a set of actions, which would result in a clear and complete cancellation of any false claims filed from Innofidei," Siano said in a statement.

Siano, founded in late 2004, claimed that its products are based on originally developed technology designed to use a method which is different from that described in Innofidei’s patents.

Siano said it is the leading supplier of CMMB receiver chips and providers ZTE, Motorola, Samsung, Huawei, Yulong, Dell, Garmin, Mitac, and others with chips.
