Focus spins off chip unit

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Focus Enhancements Inc. has spun off its semiconductor division under the name Summit Semiconductor LLC.
Summit Semiconductor, to be headquartered in Hillsboro, Ore., will develop and sell Focus' portfolio of wireless audio and video chip technologies. Brett Moyer, former president of Focus Enhancements, will be president and chief executive officer of Summit Semiconductor.
Last year, Focus Enhancements filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Also last year, Vitec Multimedia—a supplier of digital video solutions—announced the purchase of the Focus Enhancements’ Systems Group.
