SAN FRANCISCO—Memory chip vendor Micron Technology Inc. plans to sell to Hynix Semiconductor Inc. its minority stake in a joint venture between Numonyx Holdings B.V.—acquired by Micron in May for $1.27 billion in stock—and Hynix, the company disclosed Wednesday (Aug. 4) in a regulatory filing.

Hynix (Seoul, South Korea) will pay an estimated $422.89 million for the 19.3 percent stake in the China-based joint venture, Hynix-Numonyx Semiconductor Ltd., Micron said.

The transfer of ownership stake is subject to the approval of the Chinese government, Micron (Boise, Idaho) said.
