Micron selling stake in Hynix-Numonyx JV

SAN FRANCISCO—Memory chip vendor Micron Technology Inc. plans to sell to Hynix Semiconductor Inc. its minority stake in a joint venture between Numonyx Holdings B.V.—acquired by Micron in May for $1.27 billion in stock—and Hynix, the company disclosed Wednesday (Aug. 4) in a regulatory filing.
Hynix (Seoul, South Korea) will pay an estimated $422.89 million for the 19.3 percent stake in the China-based joint venture, Hynix-Numonyx Semiconductor Ltd., Micron said.
The transfer of ownership stake is subject to the approval of the Chinese government, Micron (Boise, Idaho) said.

Judging by Hynix's last earnings release, they shouldn't have a problem paying for this. There's always so much more to the story under the surface, though.
