LONDON – Taiwanese foundry United Microelectronics Corp. announced its net sales for August 2010 were approximately NT$10.89 billion (about $340 million), an increase of 0.6 percent over July 2010 and an increase of 20.1 percent over August 2009.
Revenues for UMC (Hsinchu, Taiwan) for January through August 2010 totaled NT$78.17 billion (about $2.44 billion), an increase of 52.3 percent compared to the same period in 2009.
The year-on-year gains are trending downwards but still look set to produce a major growth year. The sequential monthly increase was low compared with the 2009 when August was up a more typical 2.9 percent. In 2008 UMC's sales fell by 4.4 percent in August compared with the previous month.
