Taiwan foundries post mixed results

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Taiwan's foundries posted mixed results for October.
Silicon foundry giant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (TSMC) announced its net sales for October 2010: On an unconsolidated basis, net sales were approximately NT$37.37 billion ($1.24 billion), an increase of 2 percent over September 2010 and an increase of 28.1 percent over October 2009.
Revenues for January through October 2010 totaled NT$337.49 billion ($11.19 billion), an increase of 49.4 percent compared to the same period in 2009.
United Microelectronics Corp. has reported unaudited net sales for the month of October 2010. On an unconsolidated basis, net sales were approximately NT$10.7 billion ($354 million), a drop of 2.23 percent over September 2010 and an increase of 15 percent over October 2009.
Revenues for January through October 2010 totaled NT$99.8 billion ($3.3 billion), an increase of 49.4 percent compared to the same period in 2009.

I wouldn't call a 2% difference month to month as significant. It looks pretty flat to me. They could be seeing a mix change. You need to look at the capacity utilization numbers to know if they are growing or shrinking the biz.
