PARIS – EDA tool vendor Carbon Design Systems said it has closed calendar year 2010 with a 35-percent year-over-year growth as it strengthens its position in the virtual platform market.
For calendar year 2010, Carbon Design System said it generated significant positive cash flow. It demonstrated growth in all geographical regions and added contributions from its Carbon IP Exchange online offering.
"A key area fueling our growth is our unique ability to shorten the time required to create a virtual platform," commented Rick Lucier, Carbon’s president and CEO.
He continued: “Carbon IP Exchange is a key part of this as it allows users to quickly and correctly build models for their virtual platforms. In just six months, it has well over 100 users who have created in excess of 1,000 models. We are excited about the prospects for 2011 as we roll out new products and add members to the Carbon IP Exchange community.”
In 2011, Carbon Design Systems said it will continue to work on reducing the time, effort and cost required to produce and maintain virtual platform at all levels of abstraction.
The year 2009 also showed strong revenues. Carbon Design Systems indeed reported a 28-percent year-over-year growth in key market segments worldwide, including wireless and consumer electronics. The growth was most notable in Europe and in Asia.

The title is misleading, I thought the carbon emission has grown 35% last year, that would be a BIG problem.

I agree, this is useless, who is really interested in some unknown EDA company unless they announced a breakthrough product...the title is misleading, I thought it would be something about carbon nanotubes ;-)...Anne: pls get real...Kris

It may be they won't be so unknown that much longer. They specialize in SOC development solutions (kind of a big deal these days) and have shown good growth over the last two years... not out of line relative to the big EDA guys but then again they aren't a big EDA guy so the solid returns might mean something good.

Warren, still even if that is case (I personally doubt it, I follow EDA market reasonably well) publishing press release with growth numbers but no revenue, market share or profit numbers is useless...my consulting business has grown 67% last year, would you be interested in reading my press release ;-)? dr Kris
