SAN JOSE, Calif. - Kabam, Semitech and Tilera have separately obtained funding.

Kabam Inc., a developer of massively multiplayer social games, announced it has raised $30 million in series C funding to fuel its aggressive growth plans. The round is led by Redpoint Ventures and Intel Capital with additional funding from original investor Canaan Partners, which incubated Kabam in its offices at the seed stage.

Semitech Semiconductor Inc., a provider of power line communications solutions that transform the electricity grid into a smart grid, has completed its Series A financing, raising AU$3.4 million ($3.4 million) with an option for an additional AU$6 million ($5.9 million). Melbourne, Australia-based Cleantech Ventures led the round, with participation by all existing Semitech investors including SIMAC Capital and Get2Volume.

Semitech Semiconductor has recently announced its SM2200 and SM2101 power line communications transceivers.

Tilera Corp., developer of the Tile family of many-core processors for cloud computing and communications, announced a round of financing, led by Artis Capital Management, that included investment from WestSummit Capital Management and Comerica Bank in addition to existing investors Walden International, Bessemer Venture Partners and Columbia Capital. Cisco Systems and Samsung Venture Investment Co. also participated, joining Tilera’s previous strategic investors: Broadcom, NTT Finance, VentureTech Alliance, and Quanta Computer.

This $45 million round of funding provides a very strong balance sheet to take the company through a robust growth phase.

Great to see that VCs are seeing value in the Semi space. Especially good to see some leaders emerging in multicore.
