Tower foundry opens Shanghai office

LONDON – Tower Semiconductor Ltd., a specialty circuit foundry that trades as TowerJazz, has announced it has opened an office in Shanghai, China and the appointment of Lei Qin as China country manager.
Tower (Migdal Haemek, Israel) provides fabless companies in China with RF IC manufacturing services for basestation, GPS and other applications and uses its fabs in Israel and California as well as accessing manufacturing capacity in China.
Tower said it wants to increase its business in China in the RF market as well as in power management, CMOS image sensors, MEMS and other applications.
Commenting on his appointment, Lei Qin said, "The fabless business in China has grown rapidly and will continue to grow in the future.
