SAN JOSE, Calif. - Japan's Elpida Memory Inc. has announced preliminary consolidated earnings figures for fiscal year 2010.
Sales are expected to hit 514.0 billion yen ($6.28 billion) for 2010, up 10.1 percent from fiscal 2009. Net income was 2.0 billion yen ($24.4 million) for 2010, down 35.5 percent over 2009.
''FY 2010 was affected by lower DRAM prices, which fell on account of a drop in demand in the latter half of the fiscal year, and yen appreciation,'' according to Elpida. ''But because of such factors as 33 percent YoY bit shipment growth, an increase in consolidated net sales was achieved.''
