Video teardown gets inside iPhone 4S

11/23/2011 2:16 PM EST

SAN JOSE, Calif. – UBM TechInsights posted a video animation of an Apple iPhone 4S teardown. The animation lets viewers click through areas of interest inside the new smartphone.

To view the video click here.

The animation lets users explore the printed circuit board, battery, camera, connectors and other components in the handset. Viewers can mouse over components on the board to explpore details of specific chips Apple used. It also gives both front and back views of all components.

The 4S is Apple's first world phone that can "work across multiple carrier platforms such as GSM and CDMA," said UBM TechInsights. Also new with this model is that "Qualcomm was able to secure not only the design win of the MDM6610, but also the RTR8605 RF transceiver and their PM8028 power management device," it said.

is a division of UBM LLC, the publisher of EE Times.

Very nice work. A look of people have broken into iPhone 4s. Possibly, in few months, the inside will be cloned in China.

Very few nontechnical persons will be able to praise as there in nothing visibally change in the iPhone 4S as compared to iPhone 4. All the changes are in the chipsets, except the CDMA-GSM compatibility and FM demodulation capability.
Lets hope for the best out of it.

Nice animation. The circuit is really so closely packed. It is a piece of art.

While I'm not qualified to comment upon the circuit changes, UBM TechInsights deserves kudos for their elegant and user friendly video of the iPhone 4S teardown. Well done!
