SAN FRANCISCO—Memory chip vendor Micron Technology Inc. declined to exercise a renewal option on a 2006 technology license agreement with Tessera Technologies Inc., Tessera said Monday (Dec. 5).

Tessera (San Jose, Calif.) said it will not comment on ongoing discussions with Micron or other customers. Micron (Boise, Idaho) agreed in July 2006 to license for $30 million Tessera's compliant chip technology for semiconductor packaging.

Tessera said Monday that it expects fourth quarter sales to decline to $56.5 million, down 5 percent from the third quarter and down 30 percent from the fourth quarter of 2010.

Tessera said it expects revenue from its microelectronics subsidiary, Tessera Inc., to decline to $48.5 million in the fourth quarter, down 4 percent from the previous quarter and down 32 percent from the fourth quarter of 2010.
