Converging on LTE?

GTI, a trade group that aims to unify today's FDD- LTE networks deployed by the likes of AT&T and Verizon with the TD-LTE nets being deployed by China Mobile and others staged a summit on its efforts. It also showcased 35 new TD-LTE terminals and a dozen new chip sets for the emerging technology.

Huawei's HiSilicon division showed a 40 nm chip (right) that supports both TD and FDD flavors of LTE. Qualcomm announced a similar chip made in 28 nm technology. Sources at the event said other chip makers, including ST-Ericsson, have plans for similar converged products.

Hamadoun Toure, secretary general of the ITU, said the group ratified the TD-LTE Advanced standard two weeks ago. He praised China Mobile's efforts to help establish the technology.

Looks to be an impressive show. I liked the concept of the remote presence demonstrated by the Veego Robot.

With such a robot may be I will be able to attend many of these exhibitions and shows without leaving my drawing room
