Avago, TriQuint settle litigation

5/15/2012 4:56 PM EDT

SAN FRANCISCO—Rival RF chip vendors Avago Technologies Ltd. and TriQuint Semiconductor Inc. Tuesday (May 15) announced a patent cross-licensing agreement and agreed to dismiss all related litigation between them.

The specific terms of the settlement and the resulting licensing agreement remain confidential, the companies said.

TriQuint filed a patent infringement suit against Avago in U.S. District Court in July 2009. In that suit, TriQuint accused Avago of contacting TriQuint customers and advising them that TriQuint's products infringe on at least four Avago patents.

According to a report by the Portland Business Journal, TriQuint (Hillsboro, Ore.) spent $19 million last year in preparation for the litigation and was preparing to spend another $22 million this year.
