China Mobile taps Mindspeed for femtocells

SAN JOSE – Mindspeed Technologies, Inc. will form a joint development lab to support deployment of Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access femtocells at China Mobile, the world’s largest wireless carrier. China Mobile is deploying TD-SCDMA femtocells in Suzhou using Mindspeed chips.
“Small cells will play important roles in wireless broadband services,” said Gu Yihong, assistant general manager at China Mobile Jiangsu Suzhou Branch, speaking in a Mindspeed press statement. “The convergence of TD-SCDMA, TDD-LTE, GSM and Wi-Fi is a fast evolving technology trend,” he added
Mindspeed's Transcede processors are NodeB and eNodeB SoCs that support 3G, frequency division duplexing LTE and TD-SCDMA in a single device.
