Goodbye VTI, hello Murata
Why oh why can't Finnish hotels put thick curtains up to keep out the light? The answer is that local inhabitants and visitors who have stayed any length of time get used to the summer light blazing into the room at 3am.
Another perfect summers day and its off to the MEMS maker VTI Technologies Oy recently acquired by Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. My taxi driver does a double take. "I am sure it used to be here," he says. It's ok It's the first day of the official name change to Murata Electronics Oy

Inside the building president Tsuneo Murata was addressing the workforce on the first day under the new name. I was able to conduct an interview which I wrote up as Murata wants to build from MEMS to Internet of Things. I also met another member of the Murata family.

Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing. The video of the robot cycler is interesting. But, doesn't it put his feet down? How does the bicycle remains vertical even when not pedaling? Does the robot include a gyroscope?

@Peter Clarke: nice slides, MEMS approaching $5.7B in a couple of years, it is not surprising that many countries are jumping to the arena.
What is the longer term plan for these efforts, beyond the R&D and prototyping? Where do they intend to manufacture?
