LONDON – Lisa Su, senior vice president and general manager of global business units at processor chip company Advanced Micro Devices Inc., has been elected to the board of directors of analog and mixed-signal specialist chip company Analog Devices Inc. (Norwood, Mass.).

Prior to taking an executive role at AMD (Sunnyvale, Calif.), Su was senior vice president and general manager of networking and multimedia at Freescale Semiconductor Inc. from 2007 to 2011, and prior to that, spent 13 years at IBM in various engineering and management positions.

Su has earned bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is a Fellow of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers.

"Lisa is a highly-respected technology executive who brings with her an outstanding record of business execution. Her impressive track record and solid understanding of the semiconductor industry will add substantial value to ADI's board of directors, and we look forward to her participation," said Ray Stata, chairman of the board at Analog Devices. Su will serve on the company's nominating and corporate governance committee.

It's a joke, Lisa's org under FSL kept losing market share rapidly with lots of strategic mistakes. She might be a good scholar at MIT, but that is very, very different from a good manager. Both AMD and ADI are wrong, deadly wrong.

I think also, especially for ADI. Getting someone from AMD is totally wrong for the company. AMD is not a good company and it has failed to execute. What kind of solutions or ideas will she share to ADI which has not tried in AMD?
