Focus on integration

Now that is has split with of Cirrus Logic, Apex is focused on integration, pulling in more of the control features currently designed in as discrete parts to drive the power stages within its analog chips, such as protection functions.

The company’s design engineering and manufacturing operations, which reside at its headquarters in Tucson, Ariz., includes a 50,000 square-foot facility with a 20,000 square-foot Class 5 clean room. Apex will retain more than 80 of its employees. But it is looking to boost its analog engineering workforce, a task that Brennan conceded will be a challenge. “It’s very hard to find good, solid analog folks and bring them here to Tucson.”

A larger challenge, he continued, is finding applications within the industrial sector that can benefit from its high-precision, high-voltage analog products and align its portfolio within those areas. “There are opportunities in the industrial space that folks don’t know they need, and we think we can define those places for our customers.”

I believe the service that Apex Microtechnology Inc. provides will be very useful for many different industrial sectors such as production and printing companies. These companies require a great use of heavy machineries. I believe with more efficient power management, will allow these companies to save on their cost. Apex’s new high-voltage power operational amplifiers are especially useful to many printing companies as it can be used to drive print- heads on large industrial printers. With the high- voltage operational amplifiers, the power of the plant can be better managed and hence cut down on the cost. http://www.intellprinting.com
