London Calling: Recore and will.i.am

Intel's man

Meanwhile William Adams, otherwise known as popular recording artist will.i.am, has been disclosed as a keynote speaker for the International Broadcasting Convention, which takes place Sept. 6 to 11 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

In fact will.i.am is sharing the keynote with Johan Jervoe, director of partner marketing for Intel. As will.i.am works for Intel as director of creative innovation it is really an Intel keynote.

According to the IBC organizers the keynote speakers – on Friday, Sept. 7 – will examine the role of technology in the creative process through stories from their careers. It is intended to show that technology can be a catalyst for positive change.

"Technology allows us to amplify our ideas, amplify our creativity, and find new ways of solving our problems and genuinely start living in those future tomorrows, and that's what I want to share at IBC," said will.i.am, in a statement issued by the IBC.

If that seems like it is a bit close to artsy whimsical content and a long way away from engineering, my memory of IBC is that it was ever thus. But electronic and semiconductor engineering could be found at the exhibition if you looked hard.

And to prove the point the answer to the initial question is that both will.i.am and Recore will be attending IBC.

Recore develops and licenses reconfigurable DSP and NoC IP. Our multi-core designs can be implemented in rad.-hard processes resulting in a rad.-hard off-the-self muli-core DSP device.

Recore Systems prototyped the multi-core DSP architecture on an FPGA development board. The FPGA-based prototype is functional and can be used for (space application) benchmarking and verification activities. Our end goal is to implement similar multi-core DSP/NoC architectures in rad.-hard CMOS.

I read an interesting article on will.i.am's entrepreneurial activities on the FT lately (http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/c6df6c06-f16c-11e1-a553-00144feabdc0.html#axzz25PvCcMp6)

Technology companies especially in the United States are increasingly using celebrities and in novel interesting ways...
