NAND design revenue rolls
Spansion's new entry in NAND flash, introduced three months ago, is already paying dividends. In Q3 the company reported 40 design wins and $2 million in revenues. It expects $10 million in NAND flash revenues in the fourth quarter.
"We're 90 days into" NAND, Kispert said. "We finished staged 1 sampling to more than 350 customers, and actively engaged 200 customers on 350 applications."
Kispert is not particularly bullish on overall economic improvement. "It is difficult right now. You can go to any part of the world and come up with reasons," Kispert said. "China's slowed. Europe, the U.S., I don't have to tell you a whole lot about. Japan has slowed. in most of these countries, there are government changes taking place or about to take place, so things are slower than we anticipated earlier in the year."
