Apple's suit against Motorola dismissed

SAN FRANCISCO—A U.S. federal judge Monday (Nov. 5) dismissed a patent infringement lawsuit brought by Apple Inc. against Google Inc.'s Motorola Mobility LLC.
"We're pleased that the court has dismissed Apple's lawsuit with prejudice," a spokeswoman for Motorola Mobility said in an emailed statement.
Google bought Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion in May. In the lawsuit, filed last year, Apple alleged that Motorola's licensing fees for the use of standardized technology were unfairly high.
"Motorola has long offered licensing to our extensive standards-essential patent portfolio at a reasonable and non-discriminatory rate in line with industry standards," the Motorola spokeswoman said. "We remain interested in reaching an agreement with Apple."
According to an Associated Press report, Judge Barbara Crabb of the U.S. District Court for Western Wisconsin, dismissed the case without providing a reason.
