SAN FRANCISCO—Ken Joyce, president and CEO of semiconductor test and packaging house Amkor Technology Inc., will retire at the end of 2013 after more than 15 years with the company, Amkor said Tuesday (Nov. 6).

Amkor (Chandler, Ariz.) said its board of directors has created a search committee to indentify Joyce's replacement.  An executive recruiting firm has been retained to conduct an outside search and also to assist with the assessment of internal candidates, Amkor said.

Joyce, 65, was appointed CEO and named to Amkor's board of directors in October 2009. Prior to that, Joyce held a string of executive positions from 1999 until 2009, including serving as executive vice president and chief operating officer from May 2008 to October 2009.

"It has been a great privilege to lead this organization, filled with talented and dedicated people," Joyce said through a statement. "I am proud of what we have accomplished together during my tenure and I am confident that Amkor will achieve continued success for years to come. I look forward to working with the board on the transition to new leadership."
