There are three ways to access our apps:
- Search"DesignCon" in the App Store or Google Play
- Go to our mobile app page and choose the appropriate download for your iPhone, Android phone or BlackBerry
- Scan this QR code:

Inside the App
Here's a grab of the home page of the iPhone version of the app, followed by a table explaining the icons.

| Activity Feed | Keep your finger on the pulse of the event – see what people are doing, view photos, find trending sessions and topics, and “like” and comment on other attendees’ activities. |
| Full Agenda | Explore the full agenda and all related information (description, room, time, speakers, etc.), and add sessions to your personal agenda. |
| My Schedule | Your customized agenda – see what sessions you have selected to attend, check-in when you arrive, leave comments and more. |
| Community | See who else is using the app and attending the event, request to be friends, send messages and plan meetups. |
| Places | Look up info on the Santa Clara Convention Center, hotels and more – and check-in to earn points and badges! |
| Leaderboard | Check out who is in the lead, who has the most points at the event from check-ins and other activities, and climb your way to the top with activity. On Thursday, January 31 at 1:00pm PST, the attendee in the #1 spot will win a $250 AMEX Gift Card! |
| My Badges | See which badges you have earned with check-ins, making friends and other activities. These badges also earn you points so you can climb the Leaderboard. |
| Attendee Pics | View photos from the event, attendees and exhibitors – see where people are and what’s happening in all different areas of the show at any given time. |
Here's the FAQ for the App:
Why should I use the app instead of the DesignCon website?
- For an at-a-glance list of upcoming sessions and event activities on your mobile device – and to quickly view your personalized agenda.
- To interact with the content – like, comment, see who else is going and check in. Make it social!
- To join the conference-wide conversation through updates, photos and check-ins.
- To see who’s here and easily communicate or plan meet-ups with them – your peers, colleagues, speakers and exhibitors!
How do I navigate the agenda and choose the sessions I want to attend?
Tap the “Full Agenda” icon. Sessions are listed in chronological order. Once a session is over, it is grayed out and the next session rises to the top of the list. Tap on the session you are interested in and select “add to my agenda.” To see your personalized agenda, click on the “My Schedule” icon. Note: concurrent sessions appear in alphabetical order by timeslot.
See who else is on here, add friends and contact someone else who is here?
Tap the “Community” icon. You can select your interests and see your matches. Tap “Your Matches” to search all of the users or change your filters by interest. To add a friend, tap on the person’s name and select “Add Friend” in the upper right corner (in the Android version, this is a “+” sign). If they have agreed to be contacted via the app, this option will appear on the screen: select “Message.” The message you send will go directly to their email.
Where do I fill out my own profile?
The Profile icon is the first icon in the upper left corner of the app. Select it to enter your title, company, turn on or off push notifications, allow private messages, connect your social media profiles, change your password and more.
Why would I want to check-in to a session or place?
Earn points and badges and climb your way up the Leaderboard – the user in the #1 spot at the end of the conference will win a $250 AMEX Gift Card! Checking in announces to the conference that you are attending a session. You can also add comments to join the conversation about the session.
If I tweet during the event, do these show up in the app? Where?
If you check-in to the app during the event and select to push that check-in to Twitter, then it will automatically push to Twitter with the official #designcon hashtag. You do not need to enter the hashtag – this will happen automatically.
What are Badges for?
Badges are a fun way to compete with other conference attendees for having the most activity on the app – and your way to earn more points and climb your way up the Leaderboard. To view list of activity, tap “Activity Feed” – and you can filter by friends for a more curated list of activity.
How can I win prizes through the app?
There are a couple of ways you can win prizes:
1. Use the app as much as you can – check in to sessions, post your status, upload pictures, make friends, comment on various items, etc. These activities will help you collect points and work your way up the Leaderboard. The person in the #1 spot on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 1:00pm PST will be named the winner and receive a $250 AMEX Gift Card.
2. Play “Where in DesignCon is Chiphead?” Chiphead will be roaming the Expo Hall during designated hours. If you see him on the Expo Floor, snap a picture and upload it to the app. The Best Picture at the end of the Expo will win a $100 AMEX Gift Card.
All winners will be notified via email.
