Miracast
With the Miracast peer-to-peer wireless screencast standard created by the Wi-Fi Alliance in place, consumers can also wirelessly display what they see on their handhelds on a big-screen TV. Shown above is a Miracast demo at MediaTek’s private suite.
Many, including Broadcom’s CTO Henry Samueli, wonder, if you can easily select what you want to see on a handheld and wirelessly display it on a large screen TV in a living room, why consumers would want to battle with a complex user interface for smart TVs.

Good photo story, Junko I wish you'd stopped by our event on Monday evening to see the IBM/Shaspa/ST Smart Home demo. It showed the future of the local and cloud-based smart home. http://www.st.com/internet/com/press_release/t3380.jsp

This is a great news. Behind every home gateway, you do need partners to pull things together in he cloud. Sorry, Mike, I couldn't stop by!

Maybe it's time to kill the "slide-show" format?
It's frustrating, and wastes time.
Your writing and subject-matter is great, but obviously mauled and distorted by the supporting advertisers.
I (for one) am getting tired (and can't afford the time) to click-through the tedium...
Tell all sponsors that they'll get more high-quality attention from the audience better by delivering relevant high-quality content, rather than pestering the audience with constant annoying nagging.
Focus, not bird-shot; whatever happened to good taste?
best wishes, - vic

Also the YouTube clips. Just not appropriate to blast audio through the entire office complex during the business day. And I'm not motivated to set up a headset every time the media sends one.

@vapats: use the print mode so you can scroll down in one page. Better than clicking thru in my opinion.

@iniewski, yes true. Nano-coating has lot of potential. I am also excited about the 3D- printing technology.

It is just that the general public is now hearing about 3D printing. In the industry, it is commonly known as SLA's (stereolithography) that have been around for 20 years or more. What is different is the advancements in materials that can be relatively lower cost so that the machines to use them can also be cheaper. The versions being peddled for home use have limitations but serve to make your own parts. The pricing model is another story... far away from falling into the deskjet printer model!

I really like the idea behind Miracast. So instead of building the interface options inside TV, make the TV compatible to one of these devices so that its easy to share and update.

We actually connect laptops and phones to our big screens all the time these days. however, we only have one 15 foot HDMI extension so this would be nice to have a wireless linkup. The fact that all 6 phones, 4 laptops, and 3TVs and 2 receivers all use HDMI with no connectivity issues. I hope the same is true with wireless links. I guess I'm curious why WiFi isn't the way to go, since it is so prevalent.

AppleTV currently does this for most Apple devices. It is a cool feature.

Of course Huawei would sponsor the CES press room. It gave them access to the accounts and press releases of an unlimited number of careless journalists and visitors.
Clever.

I still have iPhone 4. I'm 100% satisfied with the features it gives. I also admit that Samsung has some decent products. These days it is so hard to distinguish who is the best.. I would say, let them fight to death for us - ordinary customers to have quality products at really affordable prices))

To me CES isn't just a place for gadget addicts to get their fix on the latest super toys. It's also an industry pace-setter. http://www.123move.org was a great attraction for that show.
