Is Microsoft building an Xbox Surface gaming tablet?

This is an interesting concept that makes complete and total sense. I still don't know if it will take off though. The key about gaming machines and gaming oriented computers is that they are capable of incredibly intensive calculations and data handling. The leading edge games require that.

There are, however, a lot of games that don't require high-end hardware. They're fine on a more conservative PC or tablet. That's the segment that I could see a gaming tablet go for. However, at that point, the game requirements pretty much fit into a standard device, so what's the point of making a specialized one?
