The massive earthquake and tsunami that rocked Japan on March 11 halted
semiconductor production in many locations, damaging fabs and production
equipment. At least a dozen fabs in northern Japan remained offline a
week later. Even those facilities that did not incur damage must work
around rolling blackouts expected to be in effect in Tokyo and
surrounding prefectures until the end of April. In our exclusive News
