The TW8810, with 256-color, 24-bit, wide-angle capability and blinking, transparency, blending and multi-window functionality for Sharp's Dual View Panels and the company's Mobile DVR reference design, supports Picture-in-Picture (PIP), picture-over-picture (POP), and multiple PIP formats (external 64 Mbit SDRAM required).
In addition to direct support of Sharp's products, the chip accepts multiple input formats including composite, S-Video, YPbPr, analog RGB, 24-bit digital RGB, and 8/16/24 bit YCbCr. The TW8810 integrates a 3D comb filter for composite NTSC and PAL video streams. 3D noise reduction circutry reduces analog-video artifacts. Proprietary image processing algorithms include a built-in 2D de-interlacing engine with low-angle compensation and black/white stretch and color enhancement to improve picture quality. The TW8810 also supports external 18-bit on-screen displays (OSDs) with external alpha blending control.
