Asahi Kasei EMD Corporation (AKM) has annnounced the AK4344 and AK4345 96-kHz, 24-bit, 3.3-V audio DACs. Designed for consumer A/V applications, the devices feature a 100-dB dynamic range, a -90-dB THD and an output voltage level that can be set as high as 1 Vrms.

The AK4345 incorporates an S/PDIF transmitter and suits home audio systems that use digital audio transmission standards (AES3, IEC60958, S/PDIF, EIAJ CP1201). It can output both analog audio and digital audio data simultaneously, enabling digital re-broadcast of the audio source in the home.

Both devices can be controlled through a 3- or 4-wire serial interface. Integrated switched-capacitor and continuous time filters ensure high resistance to clock jitter with low out-of-band noise.

The AK4344 and AK4345 consume about 23 mW and are packaged in 16-pin TSSOPs. Evaluation boards and samples are available now.
